Christmas in the Parlour, Tuesday 13 December 2011
With Operaplayhouse, Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, Charles Dickens and others
Dylan Thomas' restored childhood home is the setting for a traditional Christmas of festive tales, sing-along carols, fun, laughter and some of the most beautiful music written for the voice.
Bach, Dickens, Handel and Queen Victoria herself accompany Prince Albert on the piano as he sings the parlour songs he wrote especially for her majesty. Of course, what Christmas gathering would be complete without excerpts from A Child's Christmas in Wales?
Welsh baritone Karl Daymond and mezzo soprano Pippa Longworth have appeared on many great opera stages and have sung with some of the world's top orchestras.
This year they bring their Operaplayhouse show, A Christmas in the Parlour to The Dylan Thomas Birthplace in Swansea
This programme was chosen as a recommended Show by the 'Night Out' scheme for The Arts Council of Wales.
