The South Wales Miners' Museum is a registered charity (no. 1102321) run and managed by volunteers dedicated to promoting Industrial Heritage in the Afan Valley. All admission charges and donations go towards the running and maintenance of the Museum.
The Museum is made up of both indoor and outdoor exhibits. Visit the Museum and find yourself being taken on a historical journey back in time. The Museum portrays the working life of a miner and the hardship adults and children had to endure. Outdoor exhibits include a Blacksmith Shop, Lamp Room and an Engine House.
The Museum officially opened in 1976 and was the first mining Museum in Wales. Shortly after opening the Museum received the Prince of Wales Award. The Museum then went on to win numerous other prestigious awards and recognition including achieving fourth place in the Valleys Essential top ten.
Group tours and visitors are welcome but it's advisable to pre book ensuring sufficient members on hand to assist.
OPENING TIMES:
Easter to October: Open Daily 10am - 4pm.
November to Easter: Tuesday to Sunday (including Bank Holidays) 10.30am - 3.30pm.
