Hardingsdown Bunkhouse and The Chaffhouse are a perfect base for all holidays in the Gower Peninsula. Situated on Lower Hardingsdown Farm, approximately fifteen miles from Swansea, They are ideally placed for you to take advantage of the surrounding coastal and inland landscapes that make up this beautiful area.

The Bunkhouse and Chaffhouse are recently converted stone barns, providing warm, comfortable and affordable self catering accommodation. The Bunkhouse sleeps up to fourteen people and The Chaffhouse sleeps up to twelve people. They can be booked either separately or together to accommodate larger groups.

We are Allison and Andrew Tyrrell, and we have two sons, Rhodri and Steffan. The farm has been in our family since the 1950s, so we are the third generation of our family to farm here. We farm organic beef cattle and sheep. We are ably assisted by our four dogs: Chip, Myfi (pronounced Muvee), Roy, and Peg. They are very friendly, but do like to let you know they're around!

The Chaffhouse

The Chaffhouse is our new property! Converted and finished to the same standard as The Bunkhouse, it can comfortably sleep 12 people. It is well thought out to cater for all group types, families and friends and is disabled friendly throughout the ground floor.

The Chaffhouse is heated throughout by under floor heating powered by a ground source heat pump, making it warm and cosy in the chillier times of the year.

It is fully furnished and well equipped: there is a good sized kitchen with large range cooker, fridge freezer and dishwasher, and a table that seats 12 people. The cosy living room has comfy sofas and two chair beds. There is a downstairs bedroom that sleeps two in single beds that can be zipped together to make a large double. This room is ideal for those who have limited mobility or require wheelchair access. There are two bathrooms on the ground floor: one has a WC, wash hand basin and shower cubicle. The other is a wet room with comfort level WC, rain drop shower head and wall mounted shower and wash hand basin suitable for those with limited mobility or wheelchairs.

On the first floor there are three bedrooms, two that sleep two and one that sleeps four. All the beds are very comfortable single beds that in some rooms can be zip and linked together to make large doubles. There is also a bathroom upstairs with walk in shower, WC and wash hand basin.

A separate drying room is available for drying outdoor gear, and there is a lock-up for storing bikes, surfboards, canoes etc. An outside tap is close-by for washing down gear and kit.

Outside, there is ample parking for several cars or minibus and a patio and lawn area that catches the all day and evening sun, perfect for barbecues.

The Area

We are lucky to be located on the Gower Peninsula, an area that offers something for everyone! We were Britain's first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so ramblers can enjoy the beautiful surroundings, but we are also within easy reach of Llangennith, which boasts one of the best surfing beaches in Britain, and Swansea, an important regional shopping center for Wales.
